1952 Teardrop Trailer
She was campable enough for SCTT, but still needed stuff done. Mostly in the galley area. I had a prop rod, but didn't like it just being jammed in place.

The front end of the inside. Cute, cozy, comfy. Oh, and very warm, especially if you bring a Teardrop Heater along. (make sure she smells good)

Lots of shelves. And the top ones are separated- this is quite handy when sharing!

Behind the fence in her home... You can see the 51 plate with the 52 tag- Properly registered to the trailer!

This is the prop rod system I came up with. Quick disconnect fittings, with ball ends so that the hatch cannot get lifted by the wind and whack you on the head. The ends were turned down in the lathe here at home and riveted into place. Threaded insert goes into the wood to distribute the load. Most parts from McMaster carr, the anodized rods came from IMS.

The galley, after my woodworking neighbor helped repair the shelves. Plenty of space for cooking here. I lined the inside of the hatch with aluminum to keep the cooking from destroying the wood.

The original Meynell stove works just fine. I bought a new regulator with a ACME thread to connect to a standard 5-gal LP tank.

The paint on the top was weather beat, so after Spamboree I decided to sand it all down and repaint. Base coat is Kilz primer, over which it takes exterior latex. You can see the wood is in excellent condition, almost good enough to clear coat... But not quite and I prefer to have the white (cooler) and several good coats of paint to keep it in shape for the next 50 some years!

After the Joshua Tree trip I decided to paint the fenders. With the wheel off you can see the plywood retainer bolting the fender to the trailer. Also the brake drum from the DeSoto! You could add trailer brakes if you were of the mind to... But at 400# or so it's not really worth it.

All the old paint and grime removed, ready for primer.

Completely down to bare metal.

Fender primed and ready for paint

Fender done and painted. Wow. That burgandy looks fantastic!

All finished, ready to go camping again.
