If it doesn't go well from the top down, bring it up from the bottom... Yes, we are lifting the front of the truck over the engine. Driveway was too rough to move a 1200# engine safely at height...

And through! It's on a cinderblock stack, shimmed with wood to the right height while we fabricated the engine and transmission mounts. We had to move it forward- this was accomplished by moving the truck backwards.
Mounts fabricated, engine and transmission in location from the top. Notice the frame rail taper towards the front. Not a big deal from the engine mounting (you can make blisters for the things that stick through), but wait til we get to the suspension part...
Not a whole lot of room here between the fender wings and the engine. There will have to be some cutting done to get the power steering return hose somewhere useful...
