Diamond-T 614H - getting her on the road

Diamond-T Road to Registration

The paperwork saga was a bit of fun with trying to register a vehicle which has been off the road for 25 years. Eventually sanity prevailed, but that took some effort (and a lot of trips) to find. Hint: There is a frame number which matches the VIN, on the RH side of the frame rail just forward of the rear spring hanger. Numbers are ~1" high.

Not too shabby, even while still missing the front bumper, the trim on the sides of the hood and all the little chrome bits. It's certainly a DT now, and looks impressive wherever it goes.

Looking good, other side. The 22.5" wheels are RIGHT for this truck. Overall diameter is close to that of a 8.25x20 and fill up the wheel well as they should.

Rear end area, with leaf springs. This is where I'm considering putting the 4 link suspension and adding air bags. At some point the old riveted bar mount needs to come off- probably a good place for a 4-bar link plate to bolt to. Exhaust also needs to be extended and rerouted for better flow away from the recirculation. Still need to fabricate fender flaps.

Putnam class III/IV hitch fitted to the rear. Tail lights changed to side mount. Bolt on, the application is for a 82 Chevy C10, convenient cause I have one! If it didn't fit then I would swap it onto my truck and take off the 3 piece hitch to move it over, customizing as required. Luckily the numbers spec'd out and it fits. Drilling holes in the frame from underneath is a bear!!!
